Design Intern – CoDream Incubator (Hawaii – Onsite Only)

 

CoDream is an incubator creating commercially viable projects that also aim to make the world better. We’re looking for a Design Intern with experience in either digital UI/UX design or physical CAD/product design—or both! You’ll collaborate with engineers, product leads, and fellow interns to bring innovative ideas to life, whether it’s through intuitive user interfaces or tangible hardware prototypes.

 

📍 Onsite only — housing and meals are provided in Kauai, Hawaii.

 

 

What You’ll Do (Depending on Your Focus)

 

If you lean digital:

 

  • Conduct user research and wireframing to shape product concepts
  • Design mockups and high-fidelity prototypes in tools like Figma or Sketch
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure seamless UI implementation
  • Refine designs based on real user feedback and testing

 

 

If you lean physical:

 

  • Design and iterate on hardware components using CAD tools (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks)
  • Collaborate with fabricators and engineers to prototype and build physical products
  • Incorporate feedback from user testing into revised designs
  • Document key design files and decisions for future iterations

 

What We’re Looking For

 

  • Experience in either UI/UX design tools (Figma, Sketch, etc.) or CAD tools (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Understanding of user-centered design—whether physical or digital
  • Eagerness to iterate quickly and collaborate closely with technical teams
  • Clear communication and the ability to document your work

 

Bonus Points

 

  • Hybrid designer with both CAD and UI/UX skills
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS/JS (for UI folks)
  • Hands-on prototyping or fabrication experience (for CAD folks)
  • Experience building design systems or component libraries
