Program Assistant-Head Start & Early Head Start Full-time)-Oahu

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Program assistant is primarily responsible for the program's Eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance
(ERSEA)services. The Program Assistant is responsible for recruiting students and families, processing incoming applications,
following up on applications, planning recruitment events, inputting all program data in the appropriate database, creating regular
data reports, and overseeing the management of all student data requirements, greet participants, answer telephone calls for the
program, assist parents with application and enrollment process, and perform related office duties, including, faxing, filing, and
photocopying as needed and all other duties assigned.

  • Reliable transportation required
  • Must be able to work on the weekends and travel off island as needed

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

High school, plus additional courses or specialized training at business or community college, or other formal training facility or
program. Requires ability to understand and carry out assigned duties effectively. Knowledge needed such as stenography,
office routines, elementary accounting procedures; operation of equipment such as bookkeeping and billing machines,
tabulating equipment, transcription machines.

EXPERIENCE

  • Six months or less

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills.
  • Typing at 45 wpm with accuracy in spelling and grammar.
  • Must possess organizational and computer skills to perform assignments.
  • Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Competent of different database systems

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as needed basis throughout the island.

  • This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of
    convictions.
  • Requires contacts both inside and outside the organization in order to furnish or obtain information and/or provide participant
    services. Normal courtesy, tact and discretion required.
  • Able to provide PATCH certification for Assistant Caregiver or Lead Caregiver qualification, if not applicant MUST be willing to go back to school to attain their CDA.
