One Environmental Compliance Technician (Seasonal Worker, Part-time, 20-30 hours/week) position is available with the Colorado State University (CSU) Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) Early-career Development Program (ECDP). This will be a 10-week part-time internship with the CEMML team at U.S. Army Garrison Hawai'i and US Army Garrison Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA). The internship will include a rotation with CEMML staff in the different environmental programs in which we provide support to the Directorate of Public Works.

 

Potential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support to assess compliance with the following regulations/programs:
    • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act
    • Clean Water Act/National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)
    • Clean Air Act/ Safe Drinking Water Act
    • Recycling/Pollution Prevention
    • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures
    • Aboveground/Underground Storage Tanks
    • Lead Based Paint/Asbestos Management
    • GIS
    • Endangered Species Act
    • National Historic Preservation Act

 

  • Site inspections, field data collection, data entry, regulatory research.
  • Writing and editing technical reports
  • Community outreach, volunteer coordination, and/or public education
  • Wildlife, vegetation, invasive species, threatened/endangered species, habitat restoration surveys and/or management

 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Must be a current student seeking a degree in an environmental science-related field with at least have a junior standing or a recent graduate from a related degree program, with one year or less experience

Preference given to a local student for this position.
