What will you do as a Computer Science/Software Engineering Summer Intern?

  • Work with our team on real-world projects, such as developing and implementing innovative algorithms to solve novel problems.
  • Design, develop, modify, debug, and test software and instrumentation for infrared cameras/hardware using C/C++, Rust, CUDA, Python, and other programming languages.
  • Use standard tools for configuration management, issue tracking, and documentation of software APIs and user interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and analyze problems, determining solutions, including testing new equipment and developing operational guidelines for data-gathering systems.
  • Collaborate with staff to design, develop, implement, and maintain software products for high-throughput data processing for infrared cameras or other applications.
  • Work alongside scientists, engineers, and other professionals on a wide variety of exciting research and development projects.
  • Conceive, develop, and present your own innovative project proposal to the Review Committee. Many projects have led to products and services for our clients!

What are we looking for in a Computer Science/Software Engineering Summer Intern?

  • Recent graduate (within the past year) OR a student currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree-seeking program (diploma, certificate, etc.) at a 2-year or 4-year college/university, or graduate/professional school.
  • Major in Computer Science, Engineering, Astronomy, Physics, or a related technology field.
  • Preferably have academic projects or work experience in designing and documenting software algorithms and architectures.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, with a high level of initiative and recent experience in all aspects of the software development process.
  • Experience in one or more of the following is desirable: high-performance computing, user interface design, instrument control, image processing, natural language processing, cybersecurity, scientific data analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or agent-based systems.
