Job Summary

 

West Maui Construction Inc (WMC) is heavy civil contractor on Maui Hawaii, serving the local communities and businesses since 2009. We are looking for driven young professionals to join our growing company as a Project Engineer (PE). This role will provide technical and administrative support to the project managers to execute various projects on Maui. PE will work closely with owners, general contractors, local government agencies, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure delivery of quality product and service. Our projects include county infrastructure, underground utilities, structural concrete, commercial and residential buildings, and land development. WMC will provide necessary trainings to ensure a new PE will be properly equipped and will thrive in this position, and develop skill sets to become a successful construction professional.

 

 

Functions

 

v Utilize project management software to generate and help manage contract documents and overall job progress. 

v Attend preconstruction meetings to help assess potential risks and identify site conditions.

v Review plans, specifications, and estimates with primary estimator and project manager to comprehend tasks and budget.

v Develop project schedules and monitor job progress.

v Generate request for proposals to subcontractors and vendors and present to the project team for review.

v Help generate subcontracts and purchase orders and coordinate execution.

v Order materials and coordinate delivery to job site.

v Manage submittals and RFI documentation processes and correct any deficiencies. 

v Maintain good communication with field crew and provide onsite support as needed.

v Manage and obtain all required permits and coordinate inspection processes to ensure quality assurance and agencies approvals. 

v Manage change order processes and maintain necessary documentations to the project.

v Maintain job cost data and identify deficiencies to the project team.

v Be proactive in solving problems and provide solutions to the team.

v Manage project close out documentations and ensure all aspects of the project are finalized.

 

Requirement

 

v Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering

v Proficient in Microsoft office suite and PDF programs

v Procore, Bluebeam, and CAD knowledge are a plus.

v Aptitude for understanding complex technical problems and help provide solutions.

v Attention to detail and multitasking.

v Excellent work ethics.
