The vision of the agency is to provide global leadership in agricultural discoveries through scientific excellence.

Research Project: This opportunity is for a postgraduate (Master's degree in-hand) fellowship in arthropod genomics and molecular biology. The goal of the research project is to generate datasets and genomic resources for high priority species of insects and other arthropods to support agricultural genomics.

Learning Objectives: Under guidance of a mentor, the participant will gain skills and experience in DNA extraction, library preparation, and next generation sequencing of insect and other samples to support development of reference genomes for pest and beneficial species. The fellow will also gain access and experience using command line high performance computing, data management, and record keeping.

MentorThe mentor for this opportunity is Scott Geib (scott.geib@usda.gov). If you have questions about the nature of the research, please contact the mentor.
