BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:
The Talent Acquisition Department of the Human Resources Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 vacancy available for a Talent Acquisition Partner
 
JOB FUNCTION:
Leads the full recruitment lifecycle and talent acquisition for all management, bargaining unit and hard to fill roles. Partners in developing annual recruitment plans that are diverse and align to EEO/AAP hiring goals, sourcing, marketing, recruitment workflow tactics and contingency factors based on client drivers and business conditions. Works with HR Business Partners and their clients ensuring quality of hires through an understanding of the line of business, competencies and skills required for the roles, and employment law. Applies recruitment expertise to assess and overcome hiring challenges and seek continuous efficiency gains with SAP SuccessFactors tools.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Project manage the Company's hiring through the development, design, execution, and delivery of recruitment strategies to competitively hire, develop, and retain a high-performing, diverse workforce. Serves as the subject matter expert bringing insight on best practices and leading methodologies related to recruitment.
  • Serve as an internal consultant to process area leaders and HR partners for translating business strategies and thoroughly understanding leadership talent needs to successfully deliver against the Company's vision, long term strategy and annual goals. Drive facilitation of continuous improvement via measurement tools and recruitment analytics.
  • Sources talent to achieve the Company's strategic workforce initiatives by building candidate pipelines, researching and networking with community services, colleges, employment agencies, recruiters, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; making presentations; and maintaining rapport.
  • Avoids legal challenges and minimizes Company risk by understanding current legislation, enforcing Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) and Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) regulations with managers, recommending procedures, and providing interviewing and hiring training (e.g. unconscious bias).
  • Evaluates candidate qualifications by any combination of screening, interviewing, testing, verifying references, and thoroughly understanding position/job description, job qualifications and standards. Serves as an unbiased advisor to hiring managers.
  • Develops, manages, and leverages a broad professional network and remains current on market trends, innovative sourcing practices, and talent insights for generating rapid, effective results aligned to business priorities.
  • Promotes the employer brand through emphasizing benefits, perks, competitive pay, and employer of choice practices, remains current with industry best practices, recommending policies and practices; supported by metrics for offer acceptances/declines, turnover, and compensation practices.
  • Supports employment testing program;ensures compliance with vendor testing standards, and license agreements and applicable laws; recommends changes or enhancements to testing program, as needed, to support strategies; handles non-routine applicant queries and disputes.
  • Leverages the Company's corporate deals to provide guidance for the department's arrangement of out of state interviews or neighbor island interviews requiring travel.
  • Oversees the summer intern program recruitment including orientations; scheduling of rotations and assignments; monitoring intern job contributions; coaching interns; and advising managers on training and coaching. 
  • Assist IT with system application upgrades testing, as well as assist in the implementation of new processes and systems for efficient HR recruitment and reporting.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response. Perform other duties as assigned.
 
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices, policies, and principles normally acquired with a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of recruitment trends and techniques, human capital development, and the retention and continuous engagement of employees.
  • Proven expertise creating comprehensive recruitment and sourcing plans with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of clients within the Company.
  • A fundamental understanding of principles, practices, and standards of state and federal laws and regulations as related to employment practices, EEO and AA, including but not limited to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Equal Pay Act, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Action of 2008, and other federal and state laws related to EEO.
  • Basic understanding of regulated utility or federal contractor requirements.
  • Working knowledge of business statistics and applications normally acquired through college level courses or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and/or mainframe systems and related software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, applicant tracking systems, etc.
  • Professional certification in Human Resources, PHR or SPHR, preferred.
  • Utilities industry experience highly desirable.

Experience Requirements
  • 5+ years of exempt, non-exempt, executive, and bargaining unit recruitment experience.
  • Experience (3-5) years in administering EEO and affirmative action plans and related federal and state compliance requirements.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for the Talent Acquisition Partner  [Req ID 7805] position is $73,500.00 to $93,800.00. The person selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications. The hiring supervisor is Kazu Hayashida.
