Document Technician I (Section 508) - Honolulu, O`ahu

Summary of Duties
Performs a variety of clerical work in the creating, layout, editing and maintenance of electronic documents, forms and other media types using specialized software; performs routine compliance remediation services in accordance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act; and performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Education:  Graduation from high school or equivalent.

General Clerical Experience: Two (2) years of work experience which involved performance of a variety of clerical tasks which demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, common office appliances and equipment; and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, carry out procedures in clerical work systems, speak and write simply and directly, compare words and numbers quickly and accurately, operate various kinds of office equipment.

Specialized Experience:  One (1) year of experience modifying and updating documents for compliance with the technical requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Such experience must have included the formatting, editing and design of various electronic file types (e.g. documents, images, videos, web pages, etc.).

Substitutions Allowed:

Substitution of Education for General Clerical Experience:

1. Successful completion of a two-year clerical or business curriculum from a business or technical school, community college or other comparable institution above the high school level may be substituted for two (2) years of the General Clerical Experience.

2. Study at an accredited college or university may be substituted on the basis of one (1) academic year of study for one (1) year of General Clerical Experience up to a maximum of 2 years.

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:

Study at an accredited university or college in Information Technology, Graphics Design, or related curriculum may be substituted on the basis of thirty (30) semester credits for one (1) year of Specialized Experience.
