Natural Resource Specialist - Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Inventory Reporting Analyst

This position serves a Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Work Unit. It is one of four FIA Units across the country that comprises the national Forest Inventory and Analysis program. The FIA program is charged with conducting a nationally consistent strategic annual forest inventory of the United States and its territories. The Natural Resource Specialist will be analyzing state, regional and national level inventory data (summarizing, making calculations, performing statistical analyses) and communicating this important information about complex natural resource issues through technical reports, publications, a suite of data delivery tools, and meetings/conferences/workshops. They will also participate in regional and national projects in support of program objectives that may be related to forest carbon reporting, urban forest inventory analysis, community and client outreach and engagement and timber product output reporting. The scientist joining our team will be providing direct analytical support and a point of contact for key partners for the forest inventory of one or more states in our region and may include Alaska, Oregon and Washington, or Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. Incumbent will also serve as professional scientist within the collaborative science delivery efforts of the PNW Research Station.
