Entry-Level Policy Job for a U.S. Senator from Hawaii

U.S. Senator Brian Schatz of Hawaii seeks a legislative correspondent.  This staffer will work on some combination of these issue portfolios:  economic development (including banking, budget, consumer affairs, economic development, housing, infrastructure, small business, tax, transportation), health (including health care, nutrition, telehealth), education and judiciary (including census, civil rights, education, equity, judiciary, social issues), labor (including arts, campaign finance, Congress, creative economy, elections, federal workforce, government affairs, humanities, immigration, labor, postal service, social insurance, sports, tourism, trade), and/or technology (including antitrust, cybersecurity, intellectual property, internet, technology, telecommunications).

Responsibilities include drafting constituent correspondence, conducting policy research, writing briefing memos, and meeting with constituents and stakeholders.  This staffer will also assist with the senator’s work as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.  Qualified applicants for this entry-level position will have exceptional writing, analytical, and organizational skills; work well as part of a team; and have an interest in public policy. Current and former residents of Hawaii are strongly encouraged to apply.
