2022 Branch Bank Associate Program (S)

The Bank Associate (BA) participates in a structured classroom and on-the-job rotational learning program covering Bank of Hawaii’s business organization, culture and philosophy to prepare them for future opportunities in the Branch Banking Division. The program runs for approximately six months (July to December) during which the BA is assigned a mentor for guidance, feedback and coaching throughout the program. In this position, the BA will adhere to compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

  • Works in various departments / operations within the Branch Banking Division and/or in other assigned areas in order to gain an in-depth understanding of the Branches. Through exposure to different business areas and roles within and outside of the respective division, the BA learns how these business areas and employees in different roles across the Bank work together to implement strategies successfully.
  • Participates in a classroom program designed to complement the on-the-job training and share the Bank’s unique vision, aiding in the acquisition and improvement of skills relating to the business areas, project management, interpersonal relations and communication, change management, cultural business protocols, sales, teamwork and other business skills.
  • Participates in various program activities, fulfills miscellaneous program requirements, completes other rotations and/or participates in additional developmental and skill building activities. Develops “value-based” proposals for presentation to senior management. Participates in individual as well as group projects including, but not limited to planning, presenting and executing BA events. Participates in Bank sponsored/initiated projects and community-related activities, which may include the employee giving campaign and others.
  • Participates in a number of specialized orientation activities, which give BAs an overview of the Bank’s organization, history, governing objectives, policies, service standards and benefits. Provides BAs with information about the BA program’s background, structure, performance expectations and development planning. Networks with assigned mentors, other managers and executives.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Registration Requirement: Registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry. If not yet registered, registration to be completed and accepted no later than 30 days from employment or transfer date. If not registered and accepted, employment may be terminated.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (any major with preference for Financial Accounting, Finance, Economics and Business) from an accredited college or university, including course work in Accounting (Financial Accounting) or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Two years of part-time work experience or equivalent (volunteer work, school/student activities, leadership roles, etc.)
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Movie Maker, Publisher and Internet Explorer) or similar software.
