Staff Accountant
H. T. Harvey & Associates is looking for a self-motivated, and energetic staff accountant with prior experience in professional services, i.e. working with billing time and charges, for a full-time position in the operations group in our San Francisco Bay Area headquarters office (Los Gatos, Santa Clara County). The H. T. Harvey & Associates operations group provides business, accounting, finance, administrative, marketing, Geographic Information Systems, and IT support to the company’s ecologists and landscape architects and designers.
What You'll Do
As a member of the accounting team in the operations group, you will be supporting several accounting functions — including client billing, accounts payable, payroll, and month-end reconciliation. You’ll also help the controller with ad hoc accounting duties as needed. Although much of the work can be performed remotely, this position requires some regular in-office activities.
Ideal Qualifications:
Training and Skills
- BS or BA in Accounting or Finance, plus 2-3 years of work experience including account reconciliation
- Experience using accounting software (preferably Axium Ajera, but Deltek FMS or Vision acceptable)
- Experience using payroll software (preferably ADP’s Workforce Now)
- Excellent proficiency with MS Excel
- Accurate and rapid keyboarding skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and service orientation
- Drive to follow guidelines and procedures thoroughly and consistently
- Flexibility, adaptability, positive energy, and can-do attitude
- Ability to remain productive and service-oriented in spite of interruptions throughout the day
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, prioritize own work, and update status of assigned tasks frequently
Any of the following would be a great plus!
- A broad understanding of business and how the inputs and outputs of accounting are interconnected
- General knowledge of GAAP
- Advanced spreadsheet skills
- Interest in and awareness of the natural world and science
A valid clean California driver’s license is required for this position.
