Biomedical & Field Service Technician – Medical Equipment Calibration (Kapolei, Hawaii)

MedServ Marketplace is a flexible, project-based platform — often described as the “Uber for Biomed Techs” — connecting skilled BMETs, engineers, and semi-skilled technicians with hospitals, OEMs, and ISOs for high-impact, short-term and long-term assignments.

We are currently staffing an immediate, short-term medical equipment calibration and preventive maintenance field service engagement for a clinical trial research facility in Kapolei, Hawaii (Oahu).

Project Dates: Flexible Dispatch / Immediate On-Site Visit (Single-day field service visit with ongoing project opportunities)

Schedule: High-impact window, approximately 4–8 hours total per dispatch

Location: Kapolei, Hawaii (Oahu)

We welcome entry-level BMETs, semi-skilled technical professionals, graduate electrical/mechanical engineers, and clinically experienced technicians looking for hands-on medical equipment field experience.

Role Overview

Technicians will perform on-site preventive maintenance, operational verification, photo-tachometer speed testing, mass calibration, and equipment packaging for depot dispatch at a regional clinical research facility, working alongside MedServ lead operations engineers. Responsibilities include:

Pre-Dispatch Alignment: Participating in brief technical briefings with Lead Operations Engineers to review equipment manuals, NIST-traceable calibration standards, and clinical trial compliance protocols.

On-Site Field Calibration & Verification:

Laboratory Centrifuges: Performing optical photo-tachometer RPM speed verification (e.g., Drucker / Quest Diagnostics 642E at 4100+ RPM), 15-minute digital cycle timer calibration, and safety lid-latch latching audits.

Digital Medical & Weight Scales: Executing multi-point mass accuracy calibrations and leveling checks on heavy-duty digital scales (AmazonBasics 440 lb & PatientAid PA-550XL 550 lb capacity).

Depot Logistics Prep & Handoff: Securely inspecting, packaging, labeling, and prepping diagnostic assets (Mortara 12-lead EKG, ZacUrate Pulse Oximeter, Finicare IR Thermometer, and iHealth NIBP Monitor) for expedited express transit to central repair depots.

Testing & Verification: Verifying electrical safety, physical stability, and sensor responsiveness across all trial-site patient care equipment.

Digital Documentation: Completing digital service work orders, logging raw calibration data points, and uploading photo documentation upon job completion to ensure clinical trial sponsor audit readiness.

Clinical Purpose

This project directly supports clinical trial compliance and regulatory audit readiness, ensuring all diagnostic assets meet strict NIST-traceable standards.

Additional Scope & Future Use Cases

Beyond this engagement, network technicians gain hands-on exposure to a wide variety of medical equipment projects, including:

Infrared & Blackbody Thermometer Calibration: Utilizing variable blackbody calibrators (e.g., Fluke 9133) for multi-point clinical temperature verification (35°C, 37°C, 39°C, and 41°C).

Diagnostic & Vital Signs Calibration: Testing NIBP pressure transducers, SpO2 sensor simulation, and 12-lead EKG signal generator waveforms (60/120 BPM tracks).

Autoclave & Steam Sterilizer Preventive Maintenance (PM): Inspecting door gaskets, steam traps, relief valves, and pressure transducers on STERIS AMSCO and Tuttnauer units.

Surgical & Operating Room Infrastructure Upgrades: Installing, retrofitting, and servicing surgical lights, boom arms, and patient monitors across hospital/clinic environments.

Note: Technical guidance, SOPs, and calibration procedures will be fully provided prior to and during on-site deployment.

Why Work With MedServ?

Certification Bridge: MedServ has committed to fully covering the $200 CABT or CBET certification exam fee for technicians upon successful completion of a revenue-generating deployment.

OEM & Senior Mentorship: Direct hands-on mentorship alongside senior field service engineers inside health systems and clinical trial centers.

Flexible Income: High-impact, short-term projects that easily fit around your existing schedule or career transition.

Portfolio Building: Direct experience working on high-value clinical laboratory, diagnostic, and SPD equipment.

Future Priority: Priority consideration for upcoming MedServ PM, repair, and installation projects across Hawaii and our nationwide network.
