On-Call Catering Prep Cook
Job Title: On-Call Prep Cook / BOH (Back of House)
Pay: $20–$25/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: On-call; hours vary based on catering demand
Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled On-Call Prep Cook / BOH team member to support our catering operations. This role is ideal for someone flexible, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Hours will vary depending on event schedules and production needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients for catering events (washing, chopping, slicing, portioning)
- Assist with basic cooking and food assembly
- Maintain clean and organized workstations
- Follow recipes, prep lists, and production timelines
- Support chefs and kitchen team during high-volume prep
- Properly store and label food items
- Assist with packing, loading, and organizing catering orders
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Help with dishwashing and general kitchen cleanup as needed
Qualifications:
- Previous kitchen or food prep experience required
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of basic food preparation techniques
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40–50 lbs
- Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred:
- Experience in catering or high-volume kitchen environments
- Familiarity with a variety of cuisines and ingredients
- Valid driver’s license (helpful for event support and deliveries)
