Join our team as a Sushi Maker at GYOTAKU JAPANESE RESTAURANT! We are looking for passionate individuals who love creating delicious sushi dishes. Whether you're a seasoned sushi chef or just starting out, we offer competitive pay rates from $14 to $24 per hour plus tips, based on experience. This position is available for both part-time and full-time roles with morning and evening shifts available.
Sushi Maker Pay Grades (Plus approx $1 to $3 per hour in tips, depending on sales and shifts worked, higher tips on weekend shifts)
- Sushi III ~ Trainee through ability to work maki rolling station expertly $14 - $17/hr.
- Sushi II ~ Ability to work maki and nigiri stations expertly $17 - $19/hr.
- Sushi I ~ Ability to work maki, nigiri, fish cutting stations expertly $19 - $24/hr.
Gyotaku Sushi Makers have a light prep routine due to our central kitchen which prepares sauces, entree portions and other prep fresh every day allowing them to focus on prepare great meals in team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare sushi rice and ingredients for sushi rolls.
- Roll, shape, and assemble sushi dishes according to recipes.
- Ensure the freshness and quality of all sushi products.
- Production of prep recipes and menu items for guests according to production forms and recipe cards.
- Maintaining an organized clean and sanitary work station.
- Coordination of duties and products with the other kitchen stations.
- Follow company, Serve Safe & State Department of Health best practices for food safety & hygiene.
- Participate in and maintain a positive, professional, team oriented work environment.
- Be focused on exceeding guest expectations of a great meal experience.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sushi Maker or similar role preferred but not required. Training provided.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
