Teaching Fellowship- Pacific Alliance for Catholic Education
The Pacific Alliance for Catholic Education (PACE) offers a tuition-free graduate degree in education to anyone with a bachelor's degree in any subject area. PACE is a two-year graduate teaching program serving Catholic schools in the western United States. We offer distinct Master's degree pathways for Education and Non-Education majors that honor undergraduate study and teacher training so as not to repeat undergraduate work.
PACErs teach full-time in K-12 Catholic schools, live together in intentional communities, and apply their master's studies in their classrooms.
- PACE pays all rent/housing during those two years
- PACE pays all tuition for Master's degree program; candidates do not accrue any student debt nor apply for any loans
- PACE schools provide health benefits as they would for any full-time employee
- Two summers studying on campus at the University of Portland
- Two school years teaching in your community city
- PACErs earn a “simple living stipend” throughout the school year; enough to cover utilities, transportation, food, entertainment, because rent and tuition are already paid.
Our teachers are currently serving in 42 Catholic schools across 7 states: Fairbanks, AK; Honolulu, HI; Boise, ID; Las Vegas, NV; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; Seattle, WA; and Spokane, WA
- Candidates indicate their preferred placement location and teaching grade level/subject area during the application process
- Every effort is made to find teaching placements that match candidates' education background, desired grade level, and desired location
If your educational and career goals include a future in education, the Pacific Alliance for Catholic Education program can help you achieve them.
PACE applicants often ask, "What makes for an exceptional PACE candidate?" or "What are you looking for when reviewing applications?"
While there is no perfect answer to these questions, we seek candidates that exhibit the following qualities:
- Aspire to serve and teach in a Catholic school for two years
- Desire to live in a small, intentional, supportive community with other PACE teachers
- Authentic willingness to actively engage in this educational and spiritual journey and support others in theirs
